'All The Bright Places' Review

'All The Bright Places' Review
A Bittersweet Romance

Rating: ★★★½

From the streaming service that releases generic romance movie after generic romance movie, 'All The Bright Places' is one of the exceptions.
The YA novel adaptation has a surprising amount of sensitivity and empathy towards its themes of trauma and depression and it isn't afraid of exploring its dark subject matter. It does use it's dower themes as a gimmick nor does it let the main characters be defined by their horrifying past.
Featuring solid performances from Elle Fanning and Justice Smith, an impeccable chemistry between our leads, an engaging story, competent cinematography and an important message, this teen-orientated romance flick, while it's not without its flaw, is leagues ahead Netflix's last few outings in this genre.
